CorStone recently hosted an online virtual event designed to inform and educate the growing global community of CorStone supporters, participants, and partners about important programs, directions, and measurable results that CorStone has delivered.

As the first CorStone Community Conversation, this informative online exchange titled A Roadmap to Empower the Youth of the Future was published on May 24, 2022.

How resilience empowers the youth of the future

Panelists discussed how resilience is the often overlooked, yet vital ingredient needed to support the mental, emotional and physical well-being of adolescent youth.

Moderated by former BBC News and Current Affairs journalist, Laura Hearn, mental health experts and global participants included:

  • Rosemary Gathara | Executive Director, Basic Needs Kenya
  • Chris Underhill | Senior Ashoka Fellow + Global Mental Health Social Entrepreneur
  • Nandita Bhatla | Program Director, CorStone India
  • Steve Leventhal | CEO, CorStone
  • Laura Hearn | Moderator + Former BBC News Journalist

Attendees had the opportunity to hear from many voices about the impact that CorStone’s global work is having on the lives of those being served including students, teachers, and field staff.

To date, CorStone’s measurable impact has empowered nearly 200,000 youth in countries that include:

  • | India
  • | Kenya
  • | Rwanda

The result is participants in these life-changing programs can now advocate for their health and education rights, improve their mental and physical wellbeing, and attain their educational goals.

Increasing mental health support for youth

CorStone is moving forward in an exciting time that will scale their work and global partnerships to a level that is projected to reach 5 million youth per year in over 40,000 schools during the next 3 years.

Through our Socially Transformative Resilience framework, our work provides the missing piece within existing education and development programming in low-income countries throughout the world.
